📨 Weekly digest: 27 2024 | Can AI help us live forever?
Achieving true biological immortality will forever be a topic of debate | AI this week in the news; use cases; for the techies
👋🏻 Hello friends, and welcome to the weekly digest, week 27 of 2024.
“The soul is immortal, and the philosopher... desires to depart hence as soon as possible; for he knows that then he will be entirely with himself, alone with the immortal things, and that he will then be wise.”—Plato
AI has the potential to significantly extend lifespans, but achieving true biological immortality is still a topic of debate.
AI can analyze vast amounts of medical data to identify diseases earlier, predict health risks, and personalize treatment plans. It can also assist in drug discovery and the development of more targeted therapies.
AI-powered surgical robots can perform minimally invasive procedures with greater precision, leading to faster recovery and potentially reducing complications.
AI can accelerate research in fields like stem cell therapy and gene editing. This could lead to the repair of damaged organs, treating genetic diseases, and potentially slowing down the aging process.
Many of these solutions are still in the early stages of development. It will take time and significant breakthroughs to bring them to a level of effectiveness and safety suitable for widespread use.
AI is a powerful tool that can play a significant role in extending human lifespans. Whether it will help us achieve true biological immortality, where we can live forever without dying of age-related causes, remains to be seen.
Gene editing and other interventions raise ethical questions about designer babies and potential unintended consequences.
Aging is a complex biological process, not just one thing to fix. AI must address the many contributing factors to aging to achieve significant life extension.
However, significant advancements in healthcare and our understanding of aging are definitely on the horizon with the help of AI.
What do you think? Do you want to live forever, thanks to AI?
