🐾 IN TODAY'S WILD
Anthropic predicts near-term AI employees, the EU has strict AI and data regulations, Big Tech faces antitrust fines, a study shows that GenAI is impacting knowledge work, OpenAI releases an AI agent guide, Anthropic introduces an AI integration protocol, Meta explores AI for engineering, and Netflix utilizes foundation models for recommendations.
Today’s question:
Why is the "AI arms race" narrative considered a dangerous fallacy? [Wild Intelligence]
🦾 AI DAILY PULSE
Claude Code: Best practices for agentic coding. [Anthropic] — see below our short exploration.
The EU AI Act and DORA both require transparency, resilience, and a level of data governance that may be overwhelming. The bottom line is they're not going away, so you can't afford to bury your head in the sand and hope this all blows over. [FAIR]
Tech Apple fined $571 million and Meta $228 million for breaching European Union antitrust rules. [CNBC]
⚡️ TOP TRENDS
[Research] We present evidence on how generative AI affects the work patterns of knowledge workers, using data from a 6-month, cross-industry, randomized field experiment. Half of the 6,000 workers in the study received access to a generative AI tool integrated into the applications they already used for emails, document creation, and meetings. [arxiv]
OpenAI just dropped a 32-page beginner’s guide to AI agents. If you’ve ever wondered how to create AI that can think, act, and automate like a pro, this is for you. This guide clearly explains how AI agents function like digital assistants that can think and act independently to complete tasks, such as booking a reservation or retrieving data. [OpenAI]
💻 TOP TECHIES
[Research] MCP Safety Audit. To reduce development overhead and enable seamless integration between potential components comprising any given generative AI application, the Model Context Protocol (MCP) (Anthropic, 2024) has recently been released and subsequently widely adopted. The MCP is an open protocol that standardizes API calls to large language models (LLMs), data sources, and agentic tools. [arxiv]
Enabling more efficient and effective field engineering, the Domain-Expert Agent, powered by Lama, captures and scales specialized knowledge about integrated circuit design. [Meta]
🔮 WHAT ELSE
Netflix just released an excellent blog post on how they adopted foundation models in a completely new domain - recommendation systems. [Netflix]

🌟 NEW THINGS
Anthropic dropped a complete guide for coding AI agents.
Here's a summary:
The guide is designed to help you utilize Coding agents like Claude Code to their full potential.
However, the principles and processes shared by the team can be applied to a wide range of coding agents, such as OpenAI Codex, Goose, Aider, and even Cursor.
- Customization with CLAUDE.md:
Create CLAUDE.md files to document commands, guidelines, and project-specific details. Place them in the repo root, parent, child, or home directories for context sharing.
- Tool management:
Customize the allowed tools for Claude to use, such as bash commands or MCP servers, to enhance its capabilities while ensuring safety. This will ensure that your agent only utilizes trustworthy servers.
- Workflow patterns:
Effective workflows include exploring, planning, coding, and committing; test-driven development; and iterative coding with visual feedback.
- Subagents for complex tasks:
Use subagents to verify details and preserve context, particularly for complex problems, to enhance efficiency.
- Git and GitHub integration:
Claude can handle git operations, interact with GitHub for tasks such as creating pull requests (PRs), and automate routine GitHub interactions.
- Visual and data-driven workflows:
Provide visual targets or data (e.g., screenshots, URLs) to guide the agent in implementing designs or debugging issues.
- Specific instructions for better results:
Be explicit in your instructions to Claude to reduce the need for corrections and improve task alignment.
- Headless mode for automation:
Use headless mode to automate tasks such as issue triage, linting, or CI workflows, eliminating the need for manual intervention.
- Multi-Claude workflows:
To optimize productivity, run multiple Claude instances in parallel for tasks such as code review, independent feature development, or large-scale migrations.
Whatever I just shared is just the tip of the iceberg; the report below provides a detailed overview of everything.
