📨 Weekly digest: 7 2024 | Is 2024 the year of the AI PoC?
What artificial intelligence really means is far from what you think | AI this week in the news; use cases; for the techies
Hello friends,
2023 was the year AI went mainstream. But 2024? Is this the beginning of AI’s maturity? Maybe. This could be the year it transforms every industry.
Why we should think about 2024 as the year of the AI PoC?
Generative AI, large language models, and AI-powered automation are reaching new levels of sophistication, making them more accessible and impactful for businesses.
We see more and more companies realizing the potential of AI and conducting Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) to explore its applications in their specific contexts. Businesses shift from theoretical discussions to practical applications, demanding measurable results and clear ROI from their AI investments.
The AI talent pool is expanding, making it easier for businesses to find the expertise needed to implement and manage AI initiatives.
As early adopters gain a competitive edge, laggards will feel pressured to experiment and implement AI solutions. Is AI bad for society? But also the fact that evidence gets easier to fake.
LLMs are pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence and seem to be becoming more user-friendly and accessible (human?), empowering even small businesses to leverage their power.
But what is sure is that advancements are real and impactful, from versatile models like DeepMind's Gato to business wins like Ford's AI-powered defect detection.
Democratization, explainability, and ethical considerations will shape the future.
Reminder: businesses that adopt AI-first strategies, leveraging efficiency, innovation, and data-driven decisions, will gain a competitive edge.
