🎲 How does automation change us?
AI data and trends for business leaders: #2024-06 | AI systems series
How does automation change us?
A new Gartner, Inc. survey revealed that 55% of organizations that have previously deployed AI always consider AI for every new use case they are evaluating.Â
More than half of organizations (52%) report that risk factors are critical when evaluating new AI use cases1.
Although the technology has been around for a while, when OpenAI's ChatGPT was released, the general public was introduced to generative AI, or artificial intelligence, that creates new content (text, code, graphics, audio, etc.).
Since then, generative AI has gained enormous corporate attention, with incumbents and big tech rushing to take advantage of its promise to boost digital transformation, increase productivity, and scale automation efforts.
Many worry that if they don't change, the businesses that do will outcompete them.
â–¸ All the new options, tools, and technologies have opened up opportunities for growth, savings, and risk. How does automation change us?
This could be the beginning of the Golden Age of collaboration
📌 Fact 1
As people will naturally develop new norms for digital life and become more digitally literate in political and social interactions, we can expect that this will influence society in a way that it will be fully capable of adopting new digital standards and regulations that might promote pro-social digital activities and minimize antisocial activities.
These changes could influence digital life toward promoting human agency, security, privacy and data protection. The irony of it all is that we’re developing more and more advanced technologies to help people be more human.
Does everybody agree on that?
📌 Fact 2
With real-time data, AI systems can trigger automations based on real-time changes in market conditions and/or customer behavior. AI digital assistants are increasingly used to perform many tasks currently performed to serve the large public.
According to many surveys and trends, by 2035, we can expect that artificial intelligence and robotics will have made a substantial impact on the way people live and work.
We can expect to see an increase people’s well-being and a reduction on menial tasks. However, these changes will heavily impact the business landscape. But, is there a limit to change?
📌 Fact 3
The deployment of advanced tools gave digital users superpowers like the internet, emails, search engines, digital cameras, and mobile devices.
What is mainly needed is to develop human-centered approaches driven by a deep understanding of human needs. This leads to design-thinking strategies that bring successful products and services.
Human-centered user interface design guidelines, principles, and theories will enable us to create astonishing applications that facilitate communication, improve well-being, promote business activities, and more.
Could these future-proof superpowers enable the reduction of disinformation, greater security/privacy, and improved social connectedness?
About your business
What is needed to succeed with automation is equitable and universal access to technology that can improve the lives of many, including users with disabilities. The challenge will be to increase the level of automation while ensuring human control.
The potential of tools, such as generative AI, to penetrate, radiate, and completely recalibrate customer and employee experiences, operations (business and IT), and your products or services plays with attraction and fear.
The questions you should ask:
How can we collectively succeed in the age of artificial intelligence without harming society?
How can the automation-driven tools you develop benefit human connections, governance, and institutions?
How can your organization enhance the rise of citizen education on digital literacy systems with a strong focus on information literacy?
